What is TerraBase:
TerraBase is an intuitive, SQL-compliant relational
database application designed for environmental professionals
and managers who need to assess and manage chemical,
geological and spatial data at one or more sites.
TerraBase allows for the automated import of chemical
and field data for any media through standard electronic
formats delivered from an analytical laboratory or geotechnical
data from field activities. Data can be rapidly queried
and automatically displayed spatially in ArcView, 3D Analyst.
TerraBase is equipped with powerful reporting capabilities
allowing the user to print spatial and tabular results
in pre-formatted reports as well as output data queries
automatically to other applications (Microsoft Excel,
Word, Access, Crystal Reports, etc.). TerraBase has
the unique capability to efficiently manage up to four
levels of analytical data quality that can be combined
by the environmental data user to obtain the "best
analytical result".
What can TerraBase
do for me?
TerraBase provides a robust database and interface from
which to manage all types of environmental data for
one or more sites regardless of the media (water, air,
soil, etc.). While TerraBase alone can generate a wide
variety of standard and customizable print reports,
as an ArcView extension it allows "flat" data to become
associated with spatial information in two and three
dimensions. Moreover, the TerraBase ArcView extensions
allow the user complete access to all analytical and
geotechnical data from within the GIS application.
1. TerraBase makes it significantly easier for an environmental
scientist or manager to understand environmental data
and its spatial relationships. He or she can make appropriate,
informed decisions regarding site environmental issues.
2. Terrabase currently supports three (3) file types
for analytical data import: TerraBase level I, TerraBase
Level II and TerraBase Delimited. Since most laboratories
are capable of producing these formats, the task of
manual data entry is virtually eliminated. A fourth
format, Super Flat File Format (SF3), is being developed
along with companion tools (i.e., Checkmate and Universal
Translator) that will allow the user to manage any analytical
format. Integrate can distribute "format checking"
routines which function to ensure data is correctly
formatted. Integrate also provides services to clients
that need assistance in translating legacy data from
standard and non-standard formats.
3. TerraBase is capable of managing chemical, geological,
and spatial information for one or more sites eliminating
the need to maintain multiple independent databases
for reporting and spatial analyses.
4. Integrate also provides clients with a web-enabled
version of TerraBase via an ASP business model (www.terrabaseonline.com).
This option offers significant savings and convenience
over data sharing options and maintenance associated
with implementing in-house services that are distributed
over a LAN or WAN.
What solution
does TerraBase provide?
A great deal of the analytical and geotechnical data
that must be dealt with by companies and regulatory
agencies involved in any activity related to the environment--from
materials production (such as chemical corporations)
to monitoring and regulatory activities (such as the
EPA or DEQ)--is surprisingly difficult to store, manage,
and query. This is because it can exist in a wide variety
of formats and even if standardized and stored in a
database, few databases have the functions necessary
to conduct meaningful data analysis.
TerraBase allows easy import of a variety of data formats
and stores it in a robust database where it can be quickly
queried across any number of parameters. With the GIS
interface, data that would normally be a simple spreadsheet
or report is automatically displayed on a map to show
features such as 2D and 3D contours and subsurface detail.

Is TerraBase
right for my organization?
Prospects are qualified by determining the need and
interest in using the database and spatial analysis
tools to understand the underlying relationships of
chemical, geological, geotechnical and geographical
data to their site(s) of interest. These products are
extremely beneficial to those involved in:
- Environmental data management
- Litigation
- Site assessment
- Risk assessment
- Monitoring/reporting
- Remedial activities
- Regulatory management
What specific
market is TerraBase designed to appeal to?
Current clients include the world's largest waste management
company (which uses TerraBase to manage landfill data),
regulatory agencies and departments in the US and abroad,
large industrial and petrochemical corporations, engineering
firms, consulting firms, law firms, and analytical laboratories.
Virtually any organization that must track environmental,
analytical, scientific or geotechnical data could benefit
from using TerraBase.
How do we stack
up against the competition?
We believe TerraBase is a far superior product to any
existing competition. If you review the features and
functionality, you will find us to be the industry leader
for a reason. TerraBase is also extremely cost effective.
Our price reflects an aggressive marketing strategy
to empower users with great software at a reasonable
cost. Our software is completely contained within one
product, whereas other competing products are offered
as separate modules, thus creating hidden costs. We
believe the large difference in software pricing structures
between Integrate and the competition is probably based
on how the companies derive their revenues. Our competitors
primarily derive their revenues from software sales,
whereas Integrate derives their revenues from implementation
and data management consultation, transactions (data
population, data conversions, data validation, etc.)
as well as from software sales. If you do a price comparison,
you will find Integrate products to compare at around
1/3 the cost of our competitors. Since we do not rely
on software sales for our existence, we allow ourselves
to spend an enormous amount of money and resources every
year on new software development.
What GIS is
TerraBase integrated with, and how is it designed to
work
with that product?
TerraBase is provided as a seamless extension
for ESRI's ArcView and 3D Analyst. For most users,
only ArcView GIS is required for spatial analyses.
ArcView 3D Analyst is only required for those users
who will be performing advanced analyses such as chemical
and geotechnical contouring and three dimensional viewing.
Is TerraBase
integrated with any other software applications?
TerraBase outputs results in pre-formatted reports and
data queries automatically to other applications (Microsoft
Excel, Word, Access, Crystal Reports, etc.)
What is the
current install base of the product?
An estimated 10,000 sites are currently managed by TerraBase.
Implementation has ranged from small consulting firms
to agencies with over 1,100 users. TerraBase is primarily
being used as a tool for the environmental scientist
and manager to view technical data associated
with sites so that decisions can be made in a faster,
more cost-effective and scientific manner. References
to our clients can be made available upon request.
Does Integrate
offer on-site implementation services?
Integrate provides a wide variety of software implementation
services, geared mainly to large, enterprise-wide server-based
configurations for SQL and Oracle. We also provide
consulting for data management services in regards to
implementation, legacy data importation,
data quality objectives, data management review and
strategies. Integrate also provides a web-enabled version
of TerraBase which virtually eliminates additional implementation
costs for users.
